McKay performs songs from new album

Local musician Hollin McKay

Local musician Hollin McKay will be performing his unique brand of Americana and Alternative Country music tonight at 7 pm, at Mulberrys Wine and Cheese Bar. Expect to hear brand new, original songs from a soon-to-be-released record, “Misfit Town.” Josh Small will accompany Hollin, performing auxiliary percussion.
The McKay Brothers, Hollin and his brother Noel, started writing original songs and performing together a little more than 15 years ago. They still perform together off and on, but both work and compose music independently for the most part now.
Noel joins Hollin on several tracks of the new album, though, with instrumentation and harmony. Harmony vocalist Jamie Lyn Wilson and Robin Ludwig also make special appearances on several tracks with harmony vocals.
McKay is not a stranger to the Texas Hill Country music scene. He is often found performing at the Williams Creek Depot in Tarpley, Gruene Hall in Gruene, or at Western Edge Cellars in Fredericksburg.
Interestingly, Hollin performs on a guitar built by Neil Peterson of Bandera. Peterson Acoustics is the result of a somewhat bored cabinet-maker turning his skills to the complex craft of building and repairing musical instruments.
