At the 135th year of the Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star, Junior Past Matron Katie Bussineau and current Worthy Patron Neil Keiser of Medina Chapter #988 were honored at this year’s convention. Out of 330 chapters in Texas, two chapters in District 5 (Medina and Blanco) received the “One Degree I Can Make A Difference” award for inspiring, promoting and helping chapters and members make a difference in their communities. Last year, the Medina Chapter made a difference in many ways, with donations to the Medina Community Library and the Medina Volunteer Fire Department, by contributing to the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) memorial and the Arthur Nagel Clinic, by delivering poinsettias to homebound locals, by providing stuffed animals for first responders to give to young children, by making and stuffing Christmas stockings for burn victims in Galveston, and by being Secret Santa to about a dozen families in Medina.
