Ever since Lanette and Vicki began The Almost Patsy Cline Band 16 or so years ago, we’ve added players on the pedal steel or fiddle for special shows whenever we could or when a client asked us to. Over the years many folks have asked us about the possibility of adding another instrument to the band full-time. Well, we heard you loud and clear — and the right guy has come along at last! The Almost Patsy Cline Band is proud to introduce our new full-time pedal steel player and vocalist, Mr. Bill Pan.
Bill began playing the guitar and singing ‘50’s Rock ‘n Roll and Folk Music while he was in high school. In 1977, he took up the pedal steel guitar and played around the Midwest until he moved to Austin, Texas in 1987. Upon arrival, Bill joined the Jess DeMaine Band. Jess opened many doors and introduced him to many “A list” players in Texas. In 1997, Bill joined the Southern Image Band, a premiere band in the Texas Hill Country. It gave him the opportunity to play with many artists such as Johnny Bush, Darryl McCall, Curtis Potter, Justin Tubb and Charlie Louvin. He also played for several years with Aaron Watson and has been playing with Joe Stampley for the past 10 years. And, of course, Bill has been playing special dates with the Almost Patsy Cline Band for several years. Now, he’ll be with us all the time, and we couldn’t be happier!
Bill starts with the band this coming Friday night at the fine, old dancehall at Luckenbach, Texas. We’ll be playing on the Bandera County courthouse lawn at noon, Saturday, Sept. 2, during Experience Bandera weekend. We hope you’ll join us there, or at any of our other dates coming up soon. And, if you enjoy hearing Bill play, be sure to come say “hi” and tell him so.
