HCM receives Excellence in Patient Care Award


In August, Hill Country Memorial received an Excellence in Patient Care Award from the Studer Group. The award was presented at the 15th annual What’s Right in Health Care® best practices conference held Aug. 1-3, 2017, in Chicago.
Specifically, HCM was recognized for exemplary results related to care transitions as measured by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.
Organizations receiving this award achieved a ranking at or above the 90th percentile for patients discharged in 2016 as measured by the HCAHPS patient experience survey required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
“At Hill Country Memorial, our mission of ‘remarkable always’ means that we work to achieve patient experience scores above the 90th percentile,” said Maureen Polivka, HCM Chief Nursing Officer. “Thanks to our team’s hard work, we are able to reach even higher scores and ensure exceptional care for our patients.”
Excellence in Patient Care Awards are presented annually to a select group of organizations from Studer Group’s partner hospitals, health systems, and physician organizations. To be eligible for an award, an organization must demonstrate outstanding performance in patient care, employee engagement, or physician engagement.
According to the Studer Group, hospitals today are tasked with constantly providing higher quality care at a lower cost, and every aspect of the patient experience must be efficient and effective.
