Local student attends prestigious leadership conference

A Bandera County student attended a once-in-a-lifetime leadership conference this summer, in June, at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Arthur Jureczki represented Bandera County Farm Bureau's (TFB) 54th annual Youth leadership Conference (YLC).
“YLC is more than a conference or camp,” Barbara Mazurek, Bandera County Farm Bureau president, said. “It's a great opportunity for students to hone the skills needed to fulfill their dream.”
Students who attend YLC engage in goal-setting activities that help build character, confidence and leadership skills.
“Counselors and speakers at YLC encourage and inspire students to network and examine their ideas, attributes and abilities,” Barbara said. “The students also learn about the free enterprise system that makes our country so great.”
YLC is open to high school juniors and seniors of good character and who perform in the top 30 percent of their class academically. Those who attend YLC are eligible to enter TFB’s Free Enterprise Speech Contest for a chance at college scholarships.
