Young musicians play their way to district honors

Members of the Bandera Middle School Band performed exceptionally well at the All-Region Band Competition Saturday, Nov.12. Bandera Middle School had more students win 1st chair than any other school in the region. These students had the distinct honor of being named the No. 1 player on their instrument for the entire region: Paige Rayle on clarinet, Max Goldsmith on trumpet, Hailey Francis on French horn, and Jack Pate on tuba. Seven students earned membership into the All-Region Symphonic Band Band: Rebekah Dutton on clarinet, Jordan Green on clarinet, Cade Koenig on alto saxophone, Abby Houser on trumpet, Alex Mills on tuba, Duggan Persyn on percussion, and Kendall Gatzka on percussion. Three students earned membership into the All-Region Concert Band: Kylee Henderson on bass clarinet, Matthew Staton on trombone and Lindsey Bostain on French horn. Three students were named alternates for the All-Region Band: Sidney Timmons on flute, Mackenzie Hanks on alto saxophone and Joshua Staples on baritone saxophone.
