Rensina Hoeksema Juriaan

1926-2010

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Rensina Hoeksema Juriaan, went Home to be reunited with our dad, her family and many friends on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Bandera.

She was born on Jan. 17, 1926, in Loppersum, Holland.

Rensina served as a nurse on three continents. She met our dad while working with a MASH unit in Indonesia. She specialized as an OR nurse in Holland. In the United States, she was involved with special needs patients until a car accident forced her to stop working.

Despite having severe pain for the rest of her life, Mom continued to volunteer as long as she could wherever she was needed. She became “Oma” – grandmother – to the kids she taught in Bible.

School and Ms. Rensina to everyone else. When they were sick, her friends always asked for her famous Oma’s meatball soup.

Oma will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Alex and his wife, Jessyka; Dana and her husband, Michael; Melissa; Michael; and Liesbeth. She was Oma Rensina to her great grandchildren, Rensina, Renata, Sophia, Bruno, Kevin, Juriaan, Woden, Drake and Ashir. Her nieces and nephews in Holland and South Africa will always remember Tante Sia. She was Mom to Jinny and her husband, Thomas; and Margaretha and her husband, Robert; Kimberley; and Charles.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Vista Hospice Care for the wonderful care that enabled Mom to spend her last days pain free. Their nurses and counselors were available around the clock, helping and guiding us every step of the way.

We also want to give heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Bandera Rehabilitation Center. The care, help, and love that Mom received from them cannot be measured. The love and respect that we received during this time helped us cope and made everyone a part of our extended family.

Condolences may be sent to the family by selecting the “Send Condolences” link at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.
