LadyBulldog fall to Cougars in defensive battle

By Sandy Jennings BCC Staff Writer

The LadyBulldogs took on San Antonio’s Cole High School last Friday night at Bulldog stadium in pre-district play in an exciting defensive battle that ended with the Cougars up by one at final buzzer.
“We put on a very good display,” Head Girls Soccer Coach Myles Salas said. “We looked the stronger of the two teams for most of the game and created more opportunities than Cole going forward, but were unable to find the back of the net.”
What the LadyBulldogs were lacking offensively, they made up with a strong defensive attack, holding the Cougars out of their net, as well.
“We were very stout defensively with excellent performances from Raylynn Bowen, Angelina Munoz, Meghan Mangold, Abbey MacMillan and Madeline Cardinal,” Salas said.
Even though Bandera’s defense never allowed Cole to register a shot in goal, an unlucky bounce off a cross ended up in the net, allowing Cole a 1-0 win.
Bandera traveled to Giddings on Tuesday and will travel to La Vernia this Friday to take on the Bears with a 6pm kickoff.
