Bandera defeated in final home game

Last Friday night, marked the final home game of the season for Bulldog Basketball as they took on the Boerne Greyhounds in a back and forth battle that ended with the Greyhounds ahead 54-32.
Bandera had a tough start against the opposition scoring only two and three points in the first and second quarter. The Bulldogs did well defensively keeping the high scoring Greyhounds to only 25 first half points.
Bandera did even better in the third quarter holding them to just ten points. The Bulldogs outscored Boerne in the third quarter by five points.
The ‘Dogs tried to close the gap even further in the fourth, but were unable to do so and the Greyhounds won the game 54-32.
Leading scorers were Ben Shackelford with 17 points and Landry Kinsel with 11 points. Bandera’s overall record is now at 8-19 and District record is 1-6. Bandera played their last district game on Tuesday, against the Hondo Owls.
Earlier in the week on February 10, the Bulldogs took on the Canyon Lake Hawks. The Bulldogs were down two starters last time the two teams matched up on January 20. This game turned out to be quite the battle as Bandera jumped out to an early lead ending the first quarter 9-8. Struggles on defense hurt the Bulldogs in the second quarter and they would find themselves down by 8 (27-19) at halftime.
Bandera fought hard in the third quarter and played the Hawks just about even. Score going into the fourth was 41-31 in favor of Canyon Lake.
The Bulldogs had a big fourth quarter, scoring 20 points and allowing them to close the 10 point deficit by as much as 1 point. Unfortunately, Bandera was unable to come any closer to the Hawks with Canyon Lake ahead 58-51 at the buzzer.
Leading scorers were Brandon Chamberlain with 12 and Ben Shackelford with 10.
