Bandera track medals at Billie meet

Bulldog and LadyBulldog Track teams traveled to Fredericksburg for the 51st Annual Carlin Wicker High School Relays this past Saturday, March 4, bringing home several individual medals and gaining valuable experience on the track that will serve as the site of the District 28 4A Championships.
“The LadyBulldogs found scoring team points at the Fredericksburg Relays about as difficult as it was in the opening meet of the 2017 track and field season,” Head Girls Track Coach Steve Golemon said.
The LadyBulldog Varsity scored 34.5 points and finished sixth as a team, while the Junior Varsity scored finished seventh with 26 points.
Placing in the top six in individual events for Varsity were, junior, Sandy Clarkin, first in 800M in 2:20.36 and third in 400M in 62.53; senior Peyton Mooney, third in high jump at 5-0; sophomore Ashlyn Persyn, fourth in 3200M in 12:29.47; and senior Alex Bauml, sixth in pole vault at 7-0. The 4X100M relay made up of sophomore, Sydney Graves; sophomore, Lindsay Brown; junior, Madison Brzezinski and Bauml finished sixth in 53.72, while the 4X200M relay of junior, Alia Henderson, Brown, Brzezinski and Mooney ran 1:57.50 to finish fifth. In the 4X400M relay of Bauml, Clarkin, Henderson and freshman, Fiona Wade finished sixth with a time of 4:34.37.
Placing in the top six in individual events for the LadyBulldog JV were freshman, Emy Jauer, first in the discus at 83-05; and freshman, Jordan Edwards second in 3200M in 13:24.45, fifth 1600M in 6:18.31 and fifth in pole vault at 6-0. The 4X100M relay of freshman, Alena Swan; freshman, Madison Chelin; junior, Patricia Gembler and freshman Kristin Salas ran 59.51 to finish sixth.
Bulldog Varsity finished eighth as a team scoring 18 points. Scoring points for the team were Gunnar Brown, Isaac Bourg, Wyatt Blair and Ryan Smith in the 4X100M Relay, earning third place and 12 points with a time of 45.39; and Ryan Smith in the 200M Dash, placing third with six points and a time 23.65.
Junior Varsity Bulldogs finished eighth as a team scoring six points. Scoring points for the team were John Slaughter, Chase Havely, Garet Lloyd and John Smith in the 4X100M relay, placing fifth and earning four points and a time of 48.56; and Slaughter, Havely, Austin Abitz and Smith in the 4X200M Relay, placing sixth and earning two points with a time of 1:44.51.
The Bandera Bulldog Early Season High School Relays takes place on Wednesday, March 8, with the Bandera Bulldog Middle School Relays taking place this Thursday, March 9, both at Bulldog Stadium.
At the end of Spring Break, Bandera will travel to the George West Longhorn High School Relays on Saturday, March 18.
