Bulldog basketball kicks off season with summer camp

By Sandy Jennings BCC Staff Writer

Connor Chessir and Bulldog Basketball celebrated an exciting playoff berth.

Battling in the Bi-District playoffs this past season, the Bulldog Basketball program is kicking off a new season with their annual Bandera Bulldog Basketball Camp to be held on July 10 through July 12, from 8:30 am until 11:30 am each day. The BBB camp called “Hoopin’ in the Hill County” will be held in Bulldog gymnasium under the direction of Bulldog Basketball Interim Head Coach Tyler Wanek, Coach Bryan Grams and Coach Albert Vega, along with other coaches and former Bulldog players.
“We are excited for this upcoming season and are equally excited to see everyone at camp this year,” Wanek said. “The success of our program begins with the development of our youth.”
The camp goals include providing an environment for basketball players to develop skills; to stress knowledge and execution of the fundamentals of basketball; and to prepare the camper to compete at PeeWee, Junior High and High School levels.
“This camp is designed to have fun with a memorable learning experience for our young developing basketball kids of tomorrow,” Wanek said.
The camp is open to incoming second through nineth grade student-athletes. Anyone who has completed their freshman year of high school is not eligible to attend.
Focus areas of the camp will be ball handling, proper shooting form and defense.
“These essential skills will help prepare these young campers for success at the next level of competition,” Wanek said. “Each day will be filled with skill development time, competition and enthusiasm. We look forward to working with all of our basketball players at camp this year.”
Camp cost is $35 for preregistration and $40 on the first day of camp. To register or for more information, contact Coach Jeff Hamilton at 830-796-6245 or
