Bulldogs face tough task

The Bandera Bulldogs, coming off a much needed week of rest and an extra week of preparation for their Friday night matchup against the Llano Yellowjackets, are facing a tough task against another formidable opponent in week 3 of District 13-4A-DII football action to be played this Friday night, November 3, at Llano with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The 2-6, 0-2 Bulldogs find themselves in a must-win situation at Llano if they are to have any chance of a playoff berth in the upcoming post-season tournament. The 4-5, 1-2 Yellowjackets are coming off a 30-24 victory at Hondo (2-6, 1-1) last Friday night and can clinch a playoff berth with a victory over the Bulldogs. This is the final district game for Llano while Bandera will be at home next week on Friday, November 10, to close out district play against the powerful 7-1, 1-1 Navarro Panthers. Kickoff at Bulldog Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m. The Wimberley Texans (8-1, 3-0) currently hold the top spot in the district following their 49-35 victory over Navarro last Friday night. The Texans have the bye this week while Hondo will be at Navarro for their week 3 district encounter.
The Bulldog defense will have to stiffen up against the Yellowjacket offense led by junior quarterback Cade Fly, junior running back Mason Brooks and sophomore receiver Aaron Brown. Fly (6’1”- 185) has passed for 1457 yards and 11 touchdowns this season and has rushed for 311 yards and 8 scores to keep opposing defenses honest. Brooks has rushed for 602 yards and 6 touchdowns while averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Brown has 20 receptions for 347 yards and 3 touchdowns while junior receiver Brooks Keele is also a target for Fly with 18 receptions for 285 yards and 5 TD’s. Middle linebacker Luis Coronado spearheads the Llano defense with 75 total tackles this season while outside linebacker Ian Fletcher registering 67 tackles including 8 tackles for losses. Defensive lineman Ray Dixon (6’3”- 245) leads the Yellowjackets in sacks (4) and quarterback hurries (7) to add some punch to the Llano defense.
