Basketball season kicks off

The Bulldog basketball team traveled to Pleasanton for their first game of the season on Nov. 16. The Bulldogs won a very hard fought and exciting game by a score of 74-66. The Bulldogs were able to jump out to an early lead and held it for the entire game. Bandera had a 10-point lead at halftime. The home team made a come back cutting the lead to 2 points at one time. But the Bulldogs fought back and extended the lead again, and held on for what was a great win.
Four Bandera players scored in double digits. Zane Neff scored 2 points, Colby Brown scored 3 points, Josh Ripple scored 5 points, Brandon Chamberlain scored 6 points, Justin Raitz and Jerry Alcorta both scored 12 points, Alex Cardenas scored 15 points, and Ben Shackelford finished with 19 points.
The JV team fell to Pleasant 54 -29 on the same night. Andy Garcia, Taylor Brown, Wyatt Coiner, Travis Adams, Darien Sanchez, and Riley Bomer battled for 4 quarters, but were outlasted by the Eagles. All the boys gave great effort, and were led by Travis Adams who scored 8 points, Riley Bomer who scored 7 points, Darien Sanchez with 5 points, and Andy Garcia followed up with 4 points.
