McHaney, Jankoski top Bobcats All-District selections

The 2017 District 9-1A-DI 6-man football All-District selections are out and the 10-1 District Champion Medina Bobcats dominated the selections beginning with seniors Caleb McCaney and Austin Jankoski being chosen as Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Players respectively. The Medina Coaching Staff of Head Coach Josh Faglie, Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Phillips and assistant coaches Art DeLaGarza and Cody Taylor were collectively chosen for Coach of the year honors following the Bobcats’ 10-0 regular season record.
First Team Offensive honors went to senior tight end Brady Clark and sophomore tight end Jacob Hinds. Senior wide receiver Chance Dressen took first team honors as wide receiver, sophomore Greg Selement first team center, junior Andrew Ayala first team quarterback and senior Cameron Rambin first team running back. Junior spread back J.R. Gonzalez also was named to the first team offense while junior Dock Faglie took first team honors as the placekicker. Second Team Offensive honors went to junior tight end Joe Ortiz and senior wide receiver Bryan Keese.
First team Defensive selections included Jankoski at noseguard, Clark at defensive lineman, McHaney at linebacker, Ortiz at cornerback, Rambin at safety and Ayala as utility player. Second Team Defensive selections include defensive linemen Dressen and Hinds and cornerback Dock Faglie.
